The guy behind the counter was a Mopar guy and wanted me to switch to the mini to get rid of the whine. There are 2 different starters for the 289 -- one for an auto transmission (smaller 157-tooth flexplate), the other for a manual (larger 164-tooth flywheel). They look similar.
